First of all, I have used all kinds of shavers in my life. Many years ago I used some Brauns, then I switched to Norelco / Philips (Smarttouch was my last model) and from time to time I have been using the Gilette Mach3.
I read a lot of reviews and did my research prior to buying this shaver and I am definitely not disappointed.
What I like about this shaver is that for a top of the line product it is still very affordable (I was able to get it for <$100 during a special promotion). Another benefit for me is that even when not shaving for 2-3 days, you don't have to use the trimmer (as I had to with most other electric shavers) and it might not take 1 pass, but it is quite close to that.
It is also great that you don't have to use the HydraClean System every time and that you can easily clean the shaver simply using the "turbo cleaning mode" and water (eg when traveling or if you want to save on the cleaning cartridges). On the other hand the cleaning cartridges are very affordable compared to other brands and I read from various people that they easily last for 30 days and even longer, if you pre-clean your shaver with water.
I really like this shaver and the pros by far outweigh the cons, but there are a few things that could be improved:
a) Cleaning using the Hydra-Clean system is quite noisy and takes ~ 1 hour, with charging even longer. It actually turns on the shaver from time to time and also a fan to dry the shaver - so you definitely don't want to do this right before going to bed.
b) While the shaving head looks great and seems to be of very good quality (all 4 blades individually adjust), the front plate on the shaver body looks somewhat "cheap" to me. The travel pouch also is quite flimsy. This is not what expected from a top-of-the-line shaver - cheaper level models from Norelco and Braun have (or at least used to have) much better travel pouches or cases.
c) The pop-up trimmer works great, but it is quite difficult to see where you are cutting with it when looking in the mirror, since it is "hidden" by the body of the shaver.
I was really close to giving this shaver 5 stars, since it is the best electric razor I have owned so far, but there is room for improvement as I mentioned above, although those improvements are more cosmetic.Get more detail about Panasonic ES8249K Arc IV Nano Vortex Wet/Dry Rechargeable Shaving System, Black.
