I bought this to replace my 5 year old braun synchro w/ cleaning station. I love the fact that this panasonic is wet/dry. It makes cleaning it so much easier. I do not use the soap solution every time. I find that using liquid soap while turning the unit on works great (and in fact the recommended way to clean if you didn't own this cleaning station). I still use the base to dry it everytime, though.
