When it came time to replace my old Norelco 915RX rotary I first purchased a Remington MS2-390 based on the ratings it got from Consumer Reports, but returned it after having problems with the low battery indicator (see my review of that shaver). I did some more homework, and decided to give the Panasonic a try based on the reviews here on Amazon.
I used the Panasonic dry for the first week, and found that while it gave a pretty close shave (better than my Norelco), it did not seem as close as the Remington. It also had problems cutting longer whiskers that lay flat on the skin.
I then tried it using a wet shave technique, and found the closeness to be excellent -- equal to or better than the Remington. However, it still has problems with those longer whiskers. Sometimes I can get them with the pop-up trimmer, but sometimes I end up having to use tweezers. My Norelco rarely had problems with these kinds of whiskers. (Maybe that "lift and cut" system was more than just marketing hype!)
The styling of the Panasonic shaver is very nice. It is easy to hold and maneuver. Much nicer than the clunky Remington. Battery life is pretty good. I can get about 10 shaves before having to recharge. I really like the display on the shaver, which shows you shaving time and battery level.
This one's a keeper!
