This is my second purchase of an Arc IV razor. The first one I bought (several weeks ago) was the Arc IV model that does not have the cleaning station. As noted in the review I posted for it, absolutely wonderful shave.
Alas, the Arc IV disappeared from my gym bag last week. Very upset, but was able to get reimbursed for the cost. So, cash in hand (well, credit card to be exact) I headed to Amazon to order another. Low and behold, this model was on sale for less than the one without the cleaning module, so a few days later it arrived at my doorstep.
The two models are identical - this one is black and has a cleaning station; the other is blue and does not. The shave is exactly the same - close, comfortable and better than any shave I've had in the past. I'm a long-time electric shave guy - at any point in time there are at least four different shavers in the house. The Panny is a slight but definite favorite over my Norelco Arcitec (although that provides a very nice shave as well), better than the Braun Pulsonic, and way better than any Remington (used both their foil and rotary versions).
Love the fact that you can shave wet or dry. I usually shave dry, but sometimes (especially in the winter) it's nice to have a hot shave.
The cleaning station is not essential. I only bought this model since it was cheaper than the one without the module. It works well, but the Panasonic is the easiest shaver to clean - soap and water will do the trick. But, even if you don't use it for cleaning, the module is nice to have as a storage spot to keep the razor charged and safe from getting bumped off the counter. As long as you don't pay extra for it, well worth having.
